9pm update: We have had reports the dogs have been found!
A heartbroken family is pleading for their three beloved Schnauzer’s to be returned safely, after they were stolen from their Paerau property, near Ranfurly, on Monday night.
“Please Help,” the post states on the family’s Lammermoor Distillery social media page.
“Missing - Stolen: Our 3 Schnauzer dogs have disappeared as of 11.00pm-ish on Monday night!
“We have searched all day Tuesday for them. They do not wander, are not stock worriers nor are they hunters.
“They are my best mates. We are heart broken and shattered!”
The dogs are two adults and one 10 to 12-week-old puppy.
Visitors to the Lammermoor Distillery will likely have met the pooches, who wander over for the odd pat.
Lammermoor’s Susie Elliot told The Central App their family members were stolen just metres from the house.
“Stolen from 20m from my bedroom,” she said. “We heard them bark up.”
John, Susie’s husband, went out to look couldn’t see anything, and that was the last time they were seen.
The dogs are much-beloved and the owners said they want them back, no questions asked.
“We are shattered,” Susie said. “Don’t know what to say they have taken my heart.
“Absolutely devastated!
“These dogs were not pets they were our family.”
“A lot of people have seen them at the Distillery. Please I just want them back- no questions asked.
“That’s all we can hope for. Someone definitely knows something”
The crime has been reported to authorities, with the owners not publishing the names of the dogs, for fear that whoever has them will then use them.
