Update: Serious crash - State Highway 8, Roxburgh

One person has died following a crash on State Highway 8 near RoxburghTwo others have been flown to Dunedin Hospital, one in a serious condition and a second with minor injuries.
The road remains closed.Please follow the detour and allow extra travel time.
Detour route: Northbound traffic use SH8, then turn right onto Millers Flat bridge Road, turn left onto Teviot Road, turn left onto Jedburgh Street then right back onto SH8. Reverse for southbound traffic. Please note the Jedburgh Street Bridge is not suitable for heavy vehicles over 44 tonne.

Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on Scotland Street (State Highway 8), Roxburgh, in Central Otago.
The two-car crash was reported just after 5pm.
The road is closed and diversions are in place at the intersections of SH 8 and Jedburgh Street, and SH 8 and Millers Flat Bridge Road.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.
