Central Otago will experience some ski field top ups with snow forecasted around the region, according to Metservice.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says some snow is forecast around the region above 700m to start the week, with another cool change due on Thursday (June 30) bringing another chance of snow to around 600m.

Central Otago looks set to experience some cooler days this week

“Tuesday looks to remain cool with showers peppering the region, fine weather moving in during the afternoon,” Lewis said.

“Frosty start to a fine day on Wednesday.”

“Northwesterly winds pickup overnight Wednesday into Thursday for elevated areas,” he said.

“The cool, southwest change looks to arrive in the second half of the day bringing a brief period of rain, falling as snow above 600m.”

Friday is back to relatively settled weather, with possibly some showers in the southern parts of the region.
