A settled forecast looks set to herald in the start of spring this week, according to MetService.
Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says “meteorological spring begins on Wednesday and it starts on a high. High pressure that is”.
Today is forecast to be cloudy through the morning, becoming fine in the afternoon with light winds.
Tuesday will be mainly fine. Areas of cloud in the morning and evening with northeasterlies blowing through.
Wednesday looks set to be fine with high clouds and northerly breezes.

“Not too much to worry about weather-wise this week. A bit of rain is forecast Thursday morning but otherwise it will be a mix of cloud and sun,” Lewis says.
“Spring is typically the windiest season for New Zealand but this week winds are on the lighter side thanks to the region of high pressure.
“Although it looks as if a good northwest flow sets up this weekend which will mean breezy conditions for higher elevations but warmer temperatures for the urban areas.”
Friday appears fine with northerlies, while Saturday looks to be about the same.
On Sunday clouds begin to move in with light winds.
