Central Otago will continue to experience much of the same weather as the last few weeks, with still days typified by lingering cloud.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says what you see is what you get this week.

“These still, cloudy days are forecast to continue this working week,” he says.

“Given how close we are to the solstice frosts are probable even with the cloud cover. Some places even run the risk of remaining below zero all day.”

Lewis says a slight rise in temperature will occur later in the week as a front moves in from across the Tasman.

“A front approaches from the west on Thursday which increases the northerly winds through the region,” he says.

“This will bring up the temperature a little and should flush out the cloud from the valleys and basins.

“The northwesterly winds look to be quite breezy for elevated areas and ranges.

“The front does also look to bring some wet weather to Central Otago late on Thursday and into Friday but it doesn’t look like significant amounts at this point.”

Friday will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain developing while the northerlies die out.

At this point the weekend looks sunny on Saturday, with showers forecast for Sunday.
