The week’s weather Central Otago is in for an unsettled week, according to MetService.

Autumn is starting to show its colours as Central Otago is in for an unsettled week, according to MetService.

Cromwell-raised MetService Meteorologist Lewis Ferris says we’ve got an unsettled week ahead of us with numerous weather systems passing over the South Island.

Temperatures will reflect the unsettled patterns, with lows well into single digits.

“However, these systems are coming in from the west and don’t look to bring much precipitation into Central Otago,” Lewis says.

“If you’re looking for a day to dry your washing on the line then Wednesday looks to be your best bet.”

Lewis says the rest of the week will likely see showers.

“At this point it looks like the rest of the working week will see at least a few showers each day but there’s a chance your place will remain dry,” he says.

“On Friday we’re expecting the rain to be more widespread and gusty northwesterly winds turn fresh southwest.

“Even with a southwest flick we’re not seeing a large drop off of daytime temperatures but the overnight minima is getting down into frost territory at the end of the week.

“The current information shows the westerly flow to continue over the lower South Island this weekend with Saturday looking like the better of the two days.”
