The next week of weather in Central Otago will see a flutter of summer before wet weather makes its way into the region.
Cromwell-raised MetService Meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the heat of today will give way to a front by Wednesday.
“Today (Tuesday) is the pick of the bunch with fine weather and a high of 28C,” Lewis says.
“A frontal system brings some wet weather on Wednesday with the temperatures falling back towards 20C.”

Lewis says by Thursday, showers will begin to pop up across the area, with a wet start likely for 2021.
“The 31st looks to start out ok but the daytime heating looks to provide the fuel needed for some afternoon showers to pop up, and there’s a chance for some isolated heavy falls.

“2021 currently looks to be off to a wet start with two days of rain forecast.
“This is associated with a low pressure system lingering around the South Island.
“This rain could be heavy for a time but small changes in the low system’s position or strength will have a noticeable change in outcome, so it’s one to watch.
“Sunday and Monday currently look to have a few lingering showers.”
