The week's weatherAnother cold week lies ahead for Central Otago, according to MetService.

A week of below average temperatures lies ahead for Central Otago, according to MetService.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist, Lewis Ferris, said the week ahead could feature colder than average temperatures, persistent fog and frosts.

“Another cold week is on the cards for Central Otago,” Lewis said. “Settled conditions will also mean most days look the same.”

According to MetService, Central Otago could be in for a long, cold, foggy week.

Lewis said the chance for persistent cloud and fog is high, while the mercury might not edge much higher than zero for some days.

“In these cold, still conditions the trickiest bit is picking whether or not the cloud will burn off in the afternoon.

“This week could end up looking a lot like the one back in June where cloud persisted all day and the temperature remained around that zero degree mark for days on end.”

Lewis said every night the temperature will dip below freezing, with hoar frosts a possibility for outlying areas.

“Overnight temperatures will be in the negatives all week and freezing fog will likely form, so there could be some hoar frost conditions to witness!

“At this point it looks like the settled conditions last all the way into the weekend.”
