louds and rain will begin the week for Central Otago, before sunshine bathes the region from mid-week onwards.

Today sees a few showers, clearing in the afternoon to partly cloudy weather. Southerlies, turning northwesterly at night.

A cold front moves through the region on Tuesday, bringing a period of rain and some cooler air.

MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says things will clear up in the evening and winds will begin to die out.

Wednesday marks a change as fine weather moves in through clouds. The morning starts off a little cool with the potential for a light frost.

“The day clears up nicely and Thursday and Friday are looking nice too,” Lewis says. “A 14C high on Tuesday but that creeps up to the low twenties by the time the weekend rolls round.”

With a long weekend on the horizon, people will keep a sharp eye on the forecast as the week moves on in the hope for sunshine.

“Labour weekend is looking like a battle between the high pressure that sets up this week and a low pressure system approaching from the Tasman Sea,” Lewis says.

“Current information is showing Central being mostly dry until Monday.”
