Central Otago is set to experience a warmer week after a cool weekend, according to MetService.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says Central Otago is heading back into more ‘average’ summer temperatures and there’s not a lot of weather to worry about this week.

“A cool southerly flick does drop temperatures and will maybe bring a brief period of rain late Tuesday / Wednesday morning but it’s only a small amount of rain if any."

Central Otago looks set to be warming up this week.

"Settled weather sees out the remainder of the working week, but a front crosses the region this weekend and looks to bring a more noticeable bout of wet weather, more so on Saturday at this point.”

Enjoy this warmer sunnier weather this week before the wet weather pop’s up again.

Gardening Guide

Because it is generally the hottest time of the year, keep soil moist to help prevent wilting of plants; a healthy plant is much less likely to be susceptible to diseases.

While the garden is a bit emptier, it is a fantastic opportunity to add a layer of mulch or compost to soil and add valuable nutrients back into the soil and as the month progresses, plan what you want to grow this winter and start sowing your winter veggies.
