The weekend forecast doesn’t look set to include too much sun for parts of Central Otago, with cloudy days with light winds looking likely.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the weekend looks likely to include cloud and light winds.

“Cloud and light winds persist around Central through into the new working week,” he says.

“There’s a risk of a shower this Friday but most areas will remain dry and stay that way into next week.”

Lewis says there isn’t much good news for lovers of the sun, with areas susceptible to inversion layers likely to be blanketed by cloud.

“Temperatures remain in the single digits and a high of just 5C is forecast for Friday.

“Frosty conditions are likely most mornings and it could be a run of days with inversion layer cloud trapped in the valleys and basins.”
