Central Otago is in for a wet and chilly weekend, with rain, clouds and wind set for the forecast. 

MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says there is particularly cool weather on Sunday.

“A few isolated showers start off the day in Central on Friday,” Lewis says. “Strong northwesterly winds for exposed areas.

“These winds hold into Saturday and rain is likely in the morning and afternoon as a front moves up the West Coast.”

Central Otago will experience rain this weekend, with heavy rain and snow possibly down to 300m on Sunday, according to MetService. 

“Sunday sees the arrival of a cold front,” Lewis explains. “Winds turn round to the south bringing in cooler air. 

“Showers are also forecast and there’s a risk of snow down to 300m.”

“The new working week starts off settled,” Lewis says. 

Monday and Tuesday are forecast to be fine with light winds.
