The weekend forecast Central Otago is in for a mainly fine weekend.

Central Otago is in for a mainly fine weekend, with fine weather looking likely to hang around into the start of next week, however MetService warns of frosts.

MetService’s Lead Meteorologist David Miller says Central Otago is likely to have mostly fine weather leading into next week.

“Mainly fine weather coming up for Central Otago with a ridge over high pressure persisting over the country over the weekend.

“A chilly morning tomorrow at first with light winds, but overnight temperatures gradually increasing over the weekend.

Today looks fine with morning frosts experienced across the district. A warm afternoon with northerly breezes developing.

Saturday appears fine with variable high clouds. Winds tending northwesterly and becoming strong and gusty in exposed places.

Sunday is forecasted to be partly cloudy with isolated showers. Northwesterlies easing.

Monday, at this stage, looks cloudy with late rain. Northerlies changing southwest late on.

“On Monday a front approaches the South Island from the west, and that’s why there’s late rain in the forecast for that day,” David says.
