Fine and frosty weekend is on the cards for Central Otago, as skies clear and nightly temperatures drop, however MetService says rain is on its way.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the fine and frosty weekend will be a treat on Friday and Saturday, before rain arrives Sunday.

Central Otago will be in for a mostly fine and frosty weekend, according to MetService.

“A great weekend for wrapping up warm and getting outside, especially for the kids before they head back to school,” Lewis says.

“The settled conditions do break down later on Sunday with some breezy northwesterly winds for the ranges before the arrival of the rain.

“The wet weather looks to linger into Monday but clear conditions are expected around midweek.”

Saturday will be fine with morning frosts, with light winds, northeasterlies developing later.

It will be fine with frosts on Sunday morning, with high cloud increasing from afternoon, spots of rain later. Northeasterly winds.

Finally, Monday will be partly cloudy with scattered rain in the morning, then isolated showers and northerly winds dying out.
