Central Otago’s weekend is set to have warm temperatures and light winds, probably some clouds around but near zero risk of wet weather.
MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says there is nothing to worry about weatherwise this weekend.
With these warm, still days you can expect a breeze to pick up in the afternoon, especially if you’re near a body of water.

Lewis says, “This is because the land heats much faster than water, the hot land causes air near the surface to rise which locally decreases the air pressure causing cooler, more dense air above the body of water to rush in and fill the void.”
“This ruined many attempts of a nice summer evening BBQ around Cromwell!.”
Settled weather runs into next week with a dry week signalled.
Gardening Guide:
Dead head spent rose flower heads to promote new growth, keep the plant well-watered (in cooler hours of the day so the fungal disease black spot doesn't get a chance to germinate). For some instant colour consider planting some wildflowers, snapdragons or petunias.
Water container plants frequently in dry weather.
