Central Otago’s weekend forecast is set to receive a fresh sprinkle of snow on the hills, southerlies and afternoon temperature in the low teens.
MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says a timely reminder that April tends to be a pretty good turning point towards weather more typical of winter.
A fresh sprinkle of snow on the hills, southerlies and afternoon temperature in the low teens this weekend, according to MetService.
“That being said, this weekend isn’t looking too bad.” he says.
Lewis explains, “Northwest winds bring the temperature back up again on Saturday.”
“A period of light rain makes its way across Central Otago on Sunday morning as another cool southwest wind moves through the region.”
Back to settled weather on Monday which looks to last into the new week as high pressure moves in from the Tasman Sea.
Gardening Guide
The growing season is slowing down and it's now time for harvesting.
Reap the last of the rewards – cook and/or freeze fruit if you have a lot!
Once the leaves on your stone fruit have started dropping, prune, clear and dispose of dead leaves or diseased branches. Adding a layer of mulch around base will also keep the soil warmer over winter.
