Dozens of people paid a visit to the Teviot Valley Rest Home last weekend, keen to see what it had to offer.
Forty people visited the 14-bed facility on Sunday as part of an open day, which was designed to gauge enough interest to fill its six vacant beds.
One has been filled since the open day, leaving five still available to people in need.
Manager Robyn Niederer said the open day, which was a first since her time as manager, had gained lots of interest within the community.
“It was really good. People came and had afternoon tea,” she said.
“There were lots of people from the community and a couple of people from [outside] the community.”
She had a range of people dress the rooms up for the occasion, which was turned into a competition, allowing people to vote for their favourite.
A raffle also proved popular, Robyn said.
The home is also in the process of getting a new garden at the front of the premises, so the day was an opportunity for people to see the plans for that too, she said.
The rest home has also been giving away some of its arm chairs, which were surplus to requirements.
About half a dozen went to new homes during the open day and more were still available to people who wanted them.
