Central Otago District Council is gearing up to do some test bore drilling in Cromwell later this month.
The drilling will take place along Lake Dunstan in Cromwell, just south of the bridge on Tuesday, October 24 to Thursday, November 9.
As part of the Long Term Plan the Three Waters team is upgrading Cromwell’s water supply to meet drinking water quality standards and to allow for growth in the region.
Council will investigate the yield and quality at two possible new bore sites adjacent to Lake Dunstan.
The drilling works will be carried out in such a way that there will be no adverse environmental effects, and when the investigation is completed, the drill holes will be backfilled.
The cycleway and pedestrian access will not be affected, however there will be noticeable drilling equipment operating in the area.
Physical isolation barriers and signs will be in place in advance to direct the public around the site in a safe manner.
