While it’s still a couple of weeks until the spring equinox and the end of astronomical winter – we entered meteorological spring on September 1.

It’s almost without fail that spring arrives as does a southerly outbreak – you could almost set your calendar by it.

Luckily it’s a short cold outbreak for Central this time.

Some snow flurries are falling around the region today (Monday) and the southerlies will keep the temperature firmly in the single digits.

Blossom is blooming, as we prepare for the annual Alexandra Blossom Festival Grand Parade Saturday 24th September.

Still, be prepared, as higher ranges in the south could see between 10-25cm of snow this week.

According to MetService tomorrow (Tuesday 6th) is going to start off very frosty but the wind drops a bit and temperatures begin to rebound, potentially making double digits during the finer afternoon.

A few showers pepper the region on Wednesday but Thursday and Friday are looking fine with temperatures in the low teens.

The Central App will bring you a winter weather wrap-up tomorrow morning, so stay tuned if you love to read about the weather.
