The SPCA is encouraging cat owners in Cromwell to make the most of its desexing and microchipping campaign.
Snip ‘n’ chip allows cat owners in Cromwell to keep their cats safe with a desex and microchip for just $20.
Bookings are open and SPCA encourages cat owners across the area to take up this offer, as there are a limited number of snip ‘n’ chip vouchers.
The SPCA is working with a number of local veterinary clinics to bring this service to cat owners in these areas.
“We know desexing and microchipping is one of the key things we can all do to make a real difference for animal welfare in New Zealand and reduce the large number of unwanted litters and lost animals we see.
“Thanks to our local participating vet clinics, we hope to make a real difference in the community,” SPCA national desexing manager Rebecca Dobson said.
“Desexing your pet will help them lead a happier and healthier life and has so many other benefits.
“It ensures the cycle of unwanted litters is broken and people’s companion animals don’t unknowingly or unexpectedly reproduce more litters of animals, as well as protects our wildlife.
“Should your pet ever become lost, microchipping gives you the best chance of being reunited with them too,” Rebecca said.
Vouchers can be accessed by visiting book.spcadesexing.nz. If you know someone who is not able to access the internet, or needs help with the online system, you can register on their behalf.
“Snip ‘n’ chip is a great way for SPCA to reach out to those people who are not able to afford [desexing and microchipping]. It’s also a great opportunity for pet owners who do not currently have a local vet to get to know one in their area.”
