The wealth of talent in the arts at Dunstan High School is on tonight, with Showcase 2021.

Dunstan High School’s Connor McDowall says the school often receives high accolades but it was time the arts received specific recognition.

"We have such a talent here in sport, it's time to Showcase the Arts of Dunstan High," he says.

“Over 100 students will be performing. So many talented pupils who have the ability to make a career from these fundamental teachings.

“The arts at Dunstan is about 'giving it a go',” Connor says. “Practice if you enjoy it and you will get better.

“Our confidence grows when we commit to performing. This quality takes us so many places in life.

“Confidence is a critical element to success.

“We want our talented students to be proud of what they achieve and showcase is our way to delight the rest of Central Otago with this one off performance.”

Men's choir (from L to R) Maz Cameron (Yr 12), Kodi Knights (Yr 10), Ethan Knights (Yr 12), Connor McDowall (Yr 11), Jamie Tate-Bell (Yr 10), Daniel Cloustan (Yr 13) and Mika Tait (Yr 10).

Dunstan High School offers drama, dance, singing, and music. Proceeds from the event will go towards creating opportunities for arts students.

Dunstan High School’s choir will perform, as well as solo and group performances.

“We want to raise money to help talented kids here go on field trips to see performances, develop an art mural at school, and really lift the awareness of our passion and success in the arts at Dunstan High.”

Showcase 2021 takes place Thursday August 12 at Alexandra Memorial Theatre, with just 350 seats available and selling fast.

Doors will open at 6:30pm to view the Visual Arts Display in the foyer.
