Work to bring Roxburgh’s Entertainment Centre up to standard is tracking well.

The centre has been closed since June, to allow a wide range of works to take place for the overall benefit of the facility.

That work is going well, helped by the fact it wasn’t weather dependent so cold, wet conditions had not affected progress.

Central Otago District Council (CODC) has confirmed the fire alarm upgrade is already complete, along with installation of high-level LED lighting.

A CODC spokesperson said work to finish compliance items for fire and accessibility to meet today’s standards was still underway.

Work has also started on the southern wall, which has deteriorated over the years.

The work has been in the pipeline for a few years and, once completed, the building will be brought up to a required standard to help increase capacity, which is currently limited.

Due to the ongoing work, the hall is not expected to be open until September or October.
