Reduce, refuse, reuse. What do you do?Wastebusters wants your help with an online community survey, which takes a look at how people reduce, refuse or reuse items.

Time is running out for anyone wanting to contribute to Wastebusters’ resourceful communities survey.

The online survey, which takes a look at how people reduce, refuse or reuse items, finishes on Monday and takes just a few moments to complete.

Anyone who completes the survey will go in the draw to win one of three $150 vouchers to their restaurant of choice.

All you have to do is tell us about your reusable cups and BYO containers habits.

The survey was first undertaken in 2019 and asks about a range of behaviours, from getting takeaways in reusable cups or BYO containers, to buying second hand and repairing rather than replacing.

Hundreds of people have already taken the survey but we'd love to hear from more Central Otago residents to get an idea of if and how they reduce, refuse or reuse.

It takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Wastebusters project manager Sophie Ward says the earlier survey highlighted some concerns and it was now time to see if habits and trends had changed.

“Among the things we learned from the 2019 survey results was that people are deeply concerned about waste and the impact it has on our environment, but this concern is not always reflected in their shopping behaviour,” she says.

“It’s been two years since we did that survey so we are curious to see if any of these behaviours have changed.”

The 2021 survey is on Wastebusters website (wastebusters.co.nz) and social media and will be open for feedback until May 31st. Everyone is welcome to provide feedback.

The insights we gain from the survey will be used in future campaigns and initiatives, and to create helpful workshops and further online resources.

“Thanks in advance to all respondents, the information will really help us target Wastebusters activities for maximum waste reduction impact,” Sophie says.

“Everyone who completes the survey before the end of May can go into the draw to win a $150 restaurant voucher (of your choice).”

Wastebusters will release a report on the survey results in June.
