Power was out in Lauder and Omakau this morning due to a feeder tripping but was restored at 9.49am, Aurora Energy's Customer and Engagement Manager Lisa Gloag said.
"The cause could have been a possum on the line or a branch from a tree - no direct cause was found.
"The feeder is designed to isolate the area to keep up with the safety of the network. Our fault crew have to patrol the whole line to make sure there isn’t anything on the lines before we can safely turn power back on again."
Power cuts can be for a be for a number of reasons and there isn’t always an identifiable cause, despite investigating she said.
Lisa said the company is building a new substation at Omakau to help improve the quantity of supply in the area and that they'll be sharing more about this work soon.
