Police ask for witnesses to daylight Alexandra incident Police urge witnesses to a family harm incident in Tarbert Street Alexandra to help the investigation.

A shocking family harm incident which took place in broad daylight in the centre of Alexandra last week is being investigated by Police, with members of the public asked to come forward as witnesses. 


A Police spokesperson says the incident is being investigated and urged witnesses to come forward with information to aid the process. 


“At about 4.15 pm on Thursday 20 March Police responded to a family harm incident on Tarbert Street, Alexandra where a female was allegedly assaulted near the ANZ bank. 


“Police arrested a 28-year-old local man for the assault a short time later. 


“He has been remanded in custody to reappear in the Alexandra District Court on 15 April 2021.” 


Central Otago Police Senior Sergeant Clint Wright says he wished to “thank the public who assisted police and the victim on the day”. 


Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident.
