Plans underway for Ranfurly’s 125th celebrationRanfurly’s 125th anniversary will be celebrated in three months’ time with a weekend packed of fun community events. PHOTO: Tourism Central Otago

While Ranfurly’s 125 year anniversary logo is a nod to historic art deco architecture, the party plans for the town's big birthday are worth looking forward to whatever your age.

A free family fun day will be held on Saturday December 2 (10am - 3pm) at the Maniototo Park stadium grounds.

Free activities are on the cards including bouncy castles, mini jeep rides, face painting, live music, a grand parade (with floats and florreys), old fashioned games, a balloonologist, collie club display, and market stalls.

Organisers are calling for stall holders to sign up to be a part of the weekend; there will be late night shopping on Friday December 1 from 4.00 - 7.00pm and then the fun day on Saturday.

The Friday evening will include the lighting of the five metre high community funded outdoor Christmas tree.

Saturday night will be a gala night of glamour from the 1920s with music, a guest speaker, and an auction raising money for community projects.

Sunday (December 3) events include the unveiling of the heritage community orchard, a walking tour of the town, and a cricket match between Ranfurly and visitors.
