Central families can support the Alexandra food bank by getting their photo taken with Santa on Sunday, December 10, at new craft brewery, Station Brewing.

Owner Grant Radke said everyone was welcome and it would be a $5 donation to get your photo taken by a professional photographer, and digital copies would be emailed to participants.

“It’s hard for everybody this time of year, and it’s our responsibility to look after others in our community.

“This is our way of contributing and bringing some more Christmas spirit to the community.”

Grant said the big man in red would be present from midday, there was no need to book and Santa would stay until around 3pm.

“I’m sure if heaps of families turn up we will convince Santa to stay longer.”

The proceeds from the donations will all go towards the food bank in Alexandra, run by the Salvation Army.

They provide around 100 Christmas hampers to people struggling in Central, on top of regular food parcels for people referred to them.

The Christmas hampers contain food for Christmas Day and some treats, like scorched almonds, along with other small household goods like toiletries.

Another way to support their work is to drop off food or Christmas items at 37 Royal Terrace, between 8.30am - 12 noon weekdays.

If you would like to help or need more information call the Salvation Army on (03) 448 9436.
