OMAKAU and OPHIR BOIL WATER NOTICE - from 11pm Friday 13 June 2025
Residents and visitors to Omakau and Ophir are advised that a Boil Water Notice will be in place for this town water supply from 11pm TONIGHT.
This is a similar situation to Ranfurly, which will go on a boil water notice from 10pm tonight (Friday 13 June 2025). The considerable amount of snowmelt entering the water ways is affecting turbidity and therefore water quality, with the treatment plant unable to continue to produce compliant clean water.
Please boil all water used for drinking, food preparation and cooking, and cleaning your teeth until further notice. Bring water to a rolling boil and boil for at least a minute, then allow it to cool naturally.
Water tankers will be located at the Omakau School in Omakau and at the Blacks Hotel, corner of Swindon Street and Ida Valley-Omakau Road in Ophir.
NOTE: The tanker at Maniototo Area School has been redirected to Omakau, however, Ranfurly will still have two tankers remaining, at the Maniototo Hospital and near the Charlemont Street monument.
We will advise when water conditions improve, and the boil water notice can be removed.
