Number of Cromwell by-election candidates impressesCromwell is facing some vital decisions

Next year will be an election year, with the country heading to the polls at a yet to be determined date.

But first, the Cromwell Community Board has a space to fill, and there’s no shortage of candidates sticking their hands up for the vacant seat around the table.

“It’s a great result that seven people have put their hats in the ring for the community board, which is a great improvement on other recent elections,” Central Otago District Council (CODC) mayor Tim Cadogan said.

“It’s now up to the community to get involved in making an informed decision on the best person to represent them on the board.”

Earlier this week Tim told the Central App there were many vital decisions to be made in the community, and there must be solid representation on the board.

The candidates for the vacant Cromwell Community Board seat are Annabel Blaikie, David George, Tony Haycock, David Horton, Huw Murray, Wally Sanford, and Sian Simpson.

The Central App will be profiling candidates in the new year. We’ll ask them for their thoughts and plans for Cromwell and why they think they should have your vote.

Voting papers will be mailed out in late January and close in mid February.
