In the New Year's Resolutions we ask the same questions of some of our locals to find out what they have to say.

Today, Central Otago district councillor Sarah Browne shares her answers.

What are you happy to say goodbye to from the last year?

That's a tough one as I think even the hard things give us an appreciation for the good, so the highs wouldn't be so high without the lows.

What new experience would you commit to for the year ahead?

Practising what I preach! Being present, being mindful, less screen time; all the things I harp on at my kids about and then don't follow through with myself enough!

What’s a routine you’ll prioritise that keeps you sane/brings you peace?

One-on-one time with each of my kids on a more regular basis.

And I have an awesome group of friends who convinced me to go for the odd 5am walk which I surprised myself how much I enjoyed it... so I'll be committing to that more.

I hear the 5am club is a productive place to be!?

Two-week holiday anywhere you want in 2026...?

Lapland (the North Pole!) for Christmas and New Year with my family.

Christmas is my happy place and the wholesomeness of seeing the magic through kids' eyes is a bucket filler beyond anything else!

Or I'd settle for somewhere with a white sand beach and free flow pina coladas!
