A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle into a barrier on the Crown Range this morning.

The man died at the scene.

The crash happened just south of the Cardrona township around 10.40am and was attended by police and first responders from Wānaka.

The Crown Range Road, which was closed due to the accident, reopened at 4.30pm this afternoon.

The Serious Crash Unit has undertaken a scene examination and the cause of the crash will be investigated.
