Central Otago’s weather will be Improving from midweek, according to Metservice.

Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris an Orange Warning for Strong Winds from the northwest is currently in force until 11pm today (July 18).

Central Otago’s weather will be Improving from midweek, according to Metservice.

“Gusts of up to 130kmph are possible in exposed areas but some decent gusts are still possible down around urban areas. These strong winds will also drag in some rain from the west.”

Lewis said overnight into Tuesday a front pushes in from the south bringing further rain and a switch to southerly winds.

“These southerly winds hold into Wednesday but the rain eases back in persistence and intensity. Snow is possible above 500m. Still further southerlies on Thursday and a few showers (snow flurries above 400m), more likely for southern parts of the region.”

End of the week brings an easing in the weather which looks to last for a few days – a good chance to get those kids outside before they head back to school.
