Wānaka-based clothing brand Mons Royale’s new line has secured two major international awards for innovation in sport clothing.
The company’s Diversion Merino Trail Pant and Diversion Merino Wind Jacket each won their categories at the ISPO Awards, which celebrates outstanding products and services in the sporting world.
“We are incredibly proud to receive these ISPO Awards,” Mons Royale co-founder and creative director Hannah Acland said.
The two clothing items were part of a new line created specifically for mountain bikers.
“The Diversion Bike Capsule [line] was designed to keep riders pushing further,” Hannah said.
“It’s every mountain biker's dream gear, and we’re thrilled to see it recognised on the world stage.”
Both items feature merino wool, a material Mons Royale has sought to champion.
The ISPO awards cap off a busy period for Mons Royale, which recently opened a retail store in Whistler, British Columbia.
“With our new store in Whistler, we’re deepening our connection with the mountain biking and snowsports community in one of the most iconic outdoor destinations on the planet,” Hannah said.
“It’s an exciting time for the brand as we continue to innovate, expand, and share the performance benefits of merino wool with athletes and adventurers everywhere.”
Mons Royale was founded in 2009 and is based in Wānaka.
