Cromwell’s beautifully restored McNulty House is opening its doors to the community this coming Labour weekend (October 22-23) from 10am-2.00pm.

The aim of the open days is to raise awareness of the spaces available for hire by the community.

The historic house, built in the late 1800s and fully restored in 2021, is managed by Old Cromwell Incorporated and committee members are keen to show the public through.

The setting provides a spectacular wedding venue

“A slide-show depicting the original house and its restoration will run continuously during the weekend,” committee chair Helen Scoles said.

Sold in 1935 to Margaret Gufie NcNulty, the property remained in the family until 2012 when, following the death of Frank McNulty, it was purchased by the Cromwell Community Board with financial assistance from the Central Lakes Trust and the Otago Community Trust for long-term lease to Old Cromwell Inc.

Set in a park-like garden, the house is available for hire and is regularly booked for meetings, team-building workshops and most recently, a wedding, complete with marquee.

Meeting rooms are available for hire, complete with whiteboards, tables and chairs

A $5 entry fee will get you in to view the historic landmark  and enjoy a free sausage sizzle on Saturday (October 22), compliments of Bayleys, Cromwell.

The Cromwell Farmers & Craft market opens on Sunday (October 23) if you’re looking for refreshments after your wander through McNulty House.

Anyone interested in hiring a room, the entire McNulty House, or garden, is invited to email.
