Hear from local author Sophie RogersAlexandra’s Sophie Rogers is already working on her second book

Local author Sophie Rogers will share insights on her journey to becoming a published writer at an event in two weeks’ time.

Attendees will hear from Sophie about the inspiration, research, history and process behind her book during a free discussion at the Alexandra Library at 6pm, Thursday February 2.

Nightshades and Paperwhites is a tale of historical forbidden love set in Alexandra in 1866 during the gold rush era.

At its centre is Ginny Doyle, a young Irish woman and aspiring painter, and a Chinese translator and miner.

Sophie Rogers’ first novel was published in September 2022

Many Alexandra people will know Sophie from Paper Plus, where she works, and her time at Alexandra Library or as Alexandra Blossom Festival Queen 2019.

Nightshades and Paperwhites can be found at your local library, or bookshop, or as an ebook on amazon and meBooks.

It made a best seller list on Kete Books in October.

Book signings and sales will be available on the night.
