A free fun festive trail is back for a third time in Alexandra’s Half Mile Reserve this December to bring joy to the community.

For many years, Christine Ridd and her husband Nevelle (Nev) decorated and lit up their house after accumulating Christmas decor from the toy and retail shop they owned.

They have set up a Christmas themed trail in Alexandra’s Half Mile Reserve again this year with cut outs, hand painted rocks and jokes for the community to enjoy.

Locals have given Christine and Nev plaudits on community social media pages saying “you are amazing”, “that’s the spirit” and thanking them for their time and efforts.

Visitors can park on the corner of Aronui Rd and Shaumann Rd, just off State Highway 8 Alexandra/Roxburgh Rd.

Long daylight hours in Central at this time of year mean some small children cannot visit evening Christmas lights, but as the trail is available in daytime hours it will delight young and old.

This year the corflute cutout characters are fastened on poles instead of on wilding pine trees, and visitors will also find painted rocks and art in amongst the schist formations.

As well as exploring the trail in Half Mile, residents needing a festive fix can take a look at Light Up Central entrants, enter themselves and vote for their favourites in the competition running thanks to Tall Poppy, Aurora Energy and The Central App.
