Golfers hit out in a mixed bag of weather conditions as Alexandra, Omakau and Dunstan Golf clubs hosted the 17th Central Otago Golf Trilogy tournament at the weekend.
One of the organisers Alan Janman said 250 golfers took part and it was a successful weekend with all the players enjoying themselves.
“As well as the players from Central Otago clubs we had teams from Fairlie, Tinwald (Ashburton), Tai Tapu, Invercargill, Dunedin and Waikaka. Island Park and Taieri in Dunedin are great supporters as are the Wānaka ladies who always send a number of teams.”
Saturday’s temperatures climbed close to 31degC which was demanding especially out at Omakau, Alan said.
“The Omakau show on the same day made the town very busy, but [it was] much cooler on Sunday with only light wind.
“Congratulations to the greens staff at all clubs as the courses were in top condition in spite of the recent hot, dry weather.”
Sunday was a bit cooler with a high of 21degC and a low of 12degC, and the rain stayed away for both days of play.
For men the programme was on Saturday nine holes, two ball ambrose at Dunstan and nine holes American foursome at Omakau, followed by 18 holes two ball best ball (2BBB) at Alexandra on Sunday,
