Senior Works Officer - Department of Conservation (Central Otago)

This is your opportunity to contribute to one of Te Papa Atawhai's significant milestone projects, the Hump Ridge Expansion Project.
This Project is a significant investment in Southland Tourism where Te Papa Atawhai is working with the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Trust to bring the walk up to Great Walk standard.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
This role is fixed term, one year based in either Alexandra or Invercargill to join a small, focused team to deliver the expansion works for this track. You will be responsible for tendering, procurement, contractor management, reporting and health and safety monitoring for the project.
The project involves the development of tracks, bridge construction, civil works including carparking and roadworks along with the installation of toilets and shelters. You will work closely with our partners the Hump Ridge Tracks Trust along with iwi partners, landowners, and other external stakeholders.

You will have developed the ability to manage work priorities to successfully deliver on project objectives from your previous project management or contractor management experience. You will have a clear and engaging communication style with the ability to inform and influence others.

Ranger, Biodiversity/Heritage and Visitors - Department of Conservation (Central Otago)

Te Papa Atawhai has a vacancy for a Ranger based in either Alexandra or Wānaka to cover the diverse Central Otago district.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
The Central Otago District is unique for its richness of heritage assets and its' diverse landscapes. You will work closely with Senior Rangers, taking new conservation land and engage with stakeholders, community, iwi and neighbouring landowners to determine the best use of the land for visitors to enjoy.
You will take the lead on implementing public use of newly acquired conservation land by working with DOC staff and contractors to establish infrastructure on the land. This could include establishing a new track or a bridge, and then designing, ordering, and organising installation of all signage.
As part of the Central Otago District team, you will be supported by teams in Alexandra, Macraes Flat, Makarora and Wānaka to undertake this work and you will also work with these teams to carry out other conservation work.

We are looking for someone who can advocate and be rewarded by taking a piece of land and turning it into a recreation and visitor asset for the Central Otago District. To achieve this you will have well developed public relations skills to be able to communicate and work with our communities, neighbouring landowners, stakeholders, and iwi.
You will have practical skills and may have a project management or contractor management background. These skills will allow you to achieve work efficiently and effectively through others. With your engaging and personable manner, you will be a natural leader of people and someone that has good negotiation skills. You will be a self-starter with a natural drive to get things done.

TCO Marketing and Regional Identity Support - Central Otago District Council (Alexandra)
