Our Central Otago communities thrive thanks to the hard work of volunteers – now there’s a way discover how to work best with volunteers.
Volunteering takes many forms – formal, behind the scenes, virtual, spontaneous. Volunteers can have a great experience, building valuable skills and assisting in the areas of greatest need in their community. An upcoming workshop aims to help you give your volunteers that great experience.
Volunteer South – Central Lakes spokesperson Gillian White says they are offering a half-day workshop with the aim of helping those who utilise volunteers to recruit, motivate, retain and get the most out of their volunteers.
Gillian says the workshop is part of supporting and strengthening volunteering in the region, building stronger and more connected communities.
“Whether you're considering setting up a volunteer programme or are involved in an existing one, come and join us to ensure you get the basics right and are working towards best practice when engaging with your volunteers.”
Gillian says the workshop will cover getting ready to recruit volunteers, exploring ways to ensure your group or organisation attracts volunteers, as well as different options for finding and recruiting them.
There will be opportunities to discuss induction and training, plus different ways to support, motivate and retain your volunteers.
The workshop will also provide participants with practical tips and resources to improve engagement with volunteers.
The half day workshop in Wanaka will be held on Wednesday November 3rd, but you will need to register by October 27th.
