The Cromwell-Clyde Rd (SH8) has reopened, 10 hours after a fatal crash caused its closure this morning.
Police confirmed one person died at the scene of the three-vehicle crash involving two trucks and a car at about 6.35am.
One of the truck drivers sustained a minor injury and was assessed at the scene.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi confirmed the road reopened about 4.30pm.
The Serious Crash Unit and Commercial Vehicle Safety Team are investigating the crash to determine what happened.
