There are now 153 active cases throughout the Southern District.

It did not confirm what variants each of the cases were, or where exactly they were.

Central Otago District Council Mayor Tim Cadogan made reference to the district's case on social media tonight.

"I have been told nothing through official channels, so know nothing more than that I'm afraid."

He urged people to take care.

"At the end of the day though; if it's not now, it will be very soon, so let's just be taking that wee bit of extra caution as we go about our day.

"Take care everyone."

All up to date locations of interest can be found on the Ministry of Health website.

People with symptoms, or have been at a location of interest and have been advised to get tested, are asked to do so and stay home until they receive a negative test result.

Anyone else does not need to get tested.

The ministry said it was important people who were symptomatic, or had been asked to get tested were able to do so.
