There are another 70 community cases of Covid-19 in the country today, bringing the current total to 347.
There are 70 new community cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand today (Friday August 27) and all of them are in Auckland.
There are now 347 community cases in total: 333 in Auckland and 14 in Wellington.
Of them, 278 cases have been clearly epidemiologically-linked to another case or sub-cluster, and there are a further 69 for which links are yet to be fully established, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
Covid-19 was detected in wastewater in Christchurch yesterday (Friday August 27) and another sample collected on Wednesday was processed today and returned a positive result.
“As reported yesterday, this result is consistent with virus shedding from those cases in managed isolation and quarantine facilities in Christchurch, however, further testing is underway from a range of sites in Christchurch,” the Ministry said.
Prime minister Jacinda Ardern will provide an update on alert levels this afternoon at 3pm.
