Courthouse Cafe turns on the Christmas cheer Barry Farrell and his family, with the help of some elves, brought the Christmas season to the Courthouse Cafe.

Alexandra’s Courthouse Cafe has again impressed with their Christmas themed front counter display.

The cafe has become renowned for its innovative seasonal displays, with customers audibly gasping upon entry.

Last year, the cafe hung a full size Christmas tree from the roof, upside down.

This year, elves reportedly broke in and turned the cafe into their own.

Elves riding a sleigh hang from the ceiling of the Courthouse Cafe in Alexandra, complete with plush reindeer.

Courthouse Cafe owner Barry “Baz” Farrell said the display took a whole weekend to put together.

A large entryway made of tinsel welcomes customers in, which then gives way to a sleigh, ridden by elves and driven by reindeer.

The windows of the cafe have been stylised with snow-effects, and the festive cheer is felt warmly.

Everyone loves a little tinsel at Christmas.

“The whole family was involved. Even a sister and her kids,” Baz said.

“I’ve got a few tools, so it was good to get them out.

“Christmas is different, it’s special, not just for kids but also for adults.”

Baz said his children love Christmas and a big part of the display is the letterbox where letters can be mailed to Santa.

“The kids love putting letters in the mailbox,” he said. “We’ll check one every now and then, for Santa, and someone asked for a pony, another a kitten.

“It’s quite cool to see kids drop letters in and that Santa will read them.

“We like to think and believe everything ends happily ever after.”
