Conserving water Naseby, Ranfurly and Omakau updatedThe Central Otago District Council (CODC) has issued a conserve water notice for Ranfurly and Omakau

The continued impact of yesterdays heavy rain has caused the Central Otago District Council (CODC) to issue Boil Water Notices and Conserve Water notices for residents throughout the Maniototo.

“Residents and visitors to Naseby are advised that a Boil Water Notice has been issued for this town water supply,” a CODC statement said yesterday.

"With reservoirs extremely low due to the heavy rain, filling the sink to wash the dishes, doing laundry and flushing that toilet won't be happening for some time yet", a CODC statement said.

Today portaloos have been placed around Naseby and Patearoa.

Where they are located around Naseby:

  • Five at the Naseby Camping ground
  • Five by the public toilets on Derwent Street
  • One on Earne Street
  • One at the swimming dam

and in Patearoa four outside the pub

A reminder about the locations of water tankers for fresh drinking water also:

Naseby:

Camping ground

Derwent Street at the public toilets

Patearoa:

On the intersection of Churnside and McSkimming Road (near the start of the walking trail/toilet)

CODC contractors are working hard to get the water back on, and there will be an update about 3.30pm today.

A notice to prevent something similar happening in Ranfurly and Omakau has also just been issued.
