Thank you to all our Central Summer readers who entered to win a Central Otago Safari tour.

A very excited Wendy Rameka was the lucky winner who took out the amazing prize.

She will have the opportunity to take up to three friends or family with her on a safari along an old gold mining track - one of the highest roads in the country.

They will climb nearly 1700 metres up to the obelisk at the top of Kopuwai, The Old Man Range, and stand on top of the world.

Wendy said her pick of the safaris was that particular trip.

“It’s been on my ‘must do’ list for the last five and a half years,” she said.

“One Boxing Day we drove ourselves down there and up through the first big gate.

“But the weather came in on us, so we had to turn around and come back.

“At the time, I thought I’d never do this with my husband, I want to go with someone experienced.

“So, this is just perfect. I’m going to take my husband.

“But as for the others, there’s so many that want to go, I might just have to put a few names into the hat.

“I’m just so excited – it’s going to be wonderful going with someone who is so experienced and knowledgeable about the area.”
