Competition seeks Central heritage photographsPhotographers are being encouraged to enter an upcoming competition, focusing on heritage within Central Otago.

Budding photographers are being called on for a Heritage Central Otago (HCO) and Tourism Central Otago (TCO) photography competition.

Professional, amateur and young photographers can enter five photos with a focus on heritage to be in with a chance to win some of the many prizes, including $750 for the winner in the professional category.

Runners up in both the amateur and young photographer categories will each win $300.

‘Heritage’ is defined broadly to include buildings, trees, natural landscapes, signage, streetscapes and historical objects and intangible things such as cultural heritage, family or social traditions, or other personal expressions of heritage.

Winning and highly commended images will be displayed in the Clyde Museum exhibition in December.

The winning photos will be used to showcase and celebrate Central’s regional identity in publications and online by HCO and TCO.

Each image used will also receive a photo credit.

Photos need to have been taken in Central over the last three years and must not be overly manipulated.

It is free to enter and those under 18 years old need to have a permission form completed.

Entries, which close on November 1, can be submitted via an online form.

Competition terms and conditions including photography specifications are online.
