Plans are well underway for this year’s Clyde Wine and Food Harvest Festival at Easter, and people are encouraged to book online early.
Committee member Julie Davie said free buses would be running from Alexandra to Clyde return, and those with pre-purchased tickets will be able to enter the event without having to queue.
Live music from a range of local performers will keep the crowd entertained all day, concluding with The Burning Fridges busting out the tunes right up until 4.30pm when the event finishes.
This will be the festival’s 21st birthday, with great wines from 18 fabulous vineyards in the Alexandra-Clyde Earnscleugh basin.
They’ll be selling pinot noir, rosé, sparkling wine, pinot gris, chardonnay, riesling, gewürztraminer, and merlot.
The Alchemist will also have wine cocktails available with fun and funky garnishes, and three local craft breweries will have their beers available on tap.
Food stalls are selling oysters, savoury topped fried bread, gourmet hamburgers and pies, alongside Brazilian, Spanish, Korean, and Argentinian street food.
There will also be pulled pork, waffles, real fruit ice-creams and coffee, and money raised from the event will go towards helping train more young winegrowers in the region, Julie said.
Festival gates open at 10.30am for a day of wine tasting, browsing the market and local art exhibition in one of our superb historic buildings, and all-day live entertainment.
On-line bookings are now open: clydewineandfood.co.nz or pay on the day.
