Clyde camp complaint dismissedThe council-owned Clyde Holiday Park

No action will be taken by police regarding an alleged incident centered around the Clyde Holiday Park nearly six months ago.

Police confirmed three months ago that they were investigating a complaint from a camper.

The Central App understands it related to a camper whose family holidayed there in December 2021.

The group had stated that a young female family member had being followed along a public street at night by a camp manager.

Yesterday police confirmed their complaint investigation was completed.

“Police spoke with the parties involved a couple of weeks ago, including the complainant and the District Council, and advised them that Police will not be taking the matter further as there is insufficient evidence to do so,” a NZ Police spokesperson said.

The Central App has viewed numerous emails from campers who took issue with how they were treated at the popular campsite.

The issues prompted the owners, the Central Otago District Council, to implement a complaints policy and work with the managers to improve communications.

The camp managers are just over three years into a 10-year-lease of the business. They have previously stated that they intend to see the lease out.
