Alexandra will roar with the sounds of classic cars this Sunday, as New Zealand’s largest Cobra Classic Car tour drives into town.
The New Zealand Cobra Club’s Roni Nilsen, who is the “A-Team Organiser”, says the tour will arrive at the southern end of the South Island, “in style”.

“We have a multitude of amazing folk from all over New Zealand coming together for an adventure to parts rarely traveled in their classic cars.
“The touring party will be visiting many interesting places around the south, and will be a sight to behold.
The tour starts in Auckland on Saturday February 12 and ends back in Auckland on Saturday February 27, with classic car enthusiasts joining in along the way from both the North and South Islands.
There will be a total of 4500kms driven on our tour by the cars coming from Auckland and parts of the north island.
Roni says the enthusiasts come “From all walks of life”.
“We have folk continuing to live the dream of seeing our homeland, in their special and very much loved classic cars.
“We will have 25 fabulous classic cars on tour, Cobras, Frasers and Mustangs, being the three models.
“There will be 40 people on the tour around the southern South Island.
“We will be stopping in Alexandra for lunch on Sunday 21 February at the Monteith's Brewery Bar Alexandra. from 12pm – 2pm and welcome all locals to call by to see the classic cars parked on the Main Street area.”

It will strictly be a ‘look but no touching’ arrangement, as these classic cars are worth a lot of money.
“With such powerful cars you may indeed hear us coming, before you see us in convoy.
“The team at Monteith’s are kindly providing three car parks outside,
“Patty and her team have been exceptional to deal with, and we in the New Zealand Cobra Club are thrilled to be spending some time in Alexandra, on our tour.”
