Holiday makers and residents are keenly watching the forecast as there are only five sleeps to go until Christmas morning.
Will it be a lake day? Or one spent cooped up playing scrabble and watching movies?
MetService meteorologist Alwyn Bakker said the first glimpses of the potential Christmas day weather have appeared on metservice.com.
“However, there is still plenty of variability in the forecasts until we find out if we’ve been put on the naughty or nice list for the festive period.”
This weekend is forecast to bring some rain showers today, Saturday and Sunday. Winds should be light on Saturday and Sunday and from the southeast this afternoon.

The extended forecast predicts Christmas Day will have a high of 25’ Celsius and a low of 14, with a few showers and light winds.
